Song Dynasty Royal Tree

Surrounding this tea varietal is a wonderful legend. A Song Dynasty king was forced to flee from a threat to his throne. Alone, he sought refuge in a forest and lived off the raw tea leaves from this varietal until he was rescued by his army and restored to power. The tea tree's restorative powers were not forgotten by the grateful king and he promoted it's cultivation and harvest. Although we may question the story's validity, we can't deny this tea's rejuvenating powers. The provocative scent of orchids and night blooms goes right to the head. A peachy sweetness fills the first cup and hydrates the throat. We loved the way this tea spread sugar and spice to every corner of the mouth. Bright and juicy, like the liquor of some mythical fruit.
