  Kat Qong Teapot

A beautiful porcelain teapot that pays homage to a popular shape found throughout Yixing tea pot history. We love this glowing white version but find some difficulty explaining the style. The compressed cylindrical body is often referred to as "squashed meatball". A translation that doesn't do justice to this iconic look. Those with poetic leanings compare the elegant slope of the top to the gentle curve of a lady's shoulders and it does indeed have "beautiful shoulders". Whatever it's called, we admire the craftsmanship, the clean lines and sophisticated balance. The straight spout and minimally formed lid seem like a modern touch but similar examples exist in many older teapots. It's just a great example of the timeless appeal of the classics.
