- Spring 2010 Harvest
- Our Kagoshima Sencha is a special blend of three cultivars:
- Yutakamidori - first developed in the fields of Shizuoka, it was finally registered in 1966. It is the 2nd most popular varietal in Japan. Known for it's larger leaves and rich, flavor profile with a pronounced astringence.
- Yabukita - this is the most popular varietal with a beautifully balanced flavor profile and has set the standard for sencha. We also recommend the Tenryu Sencha.
- Saemidori - developed in the 1960's by cross-breeding the Yabukita and Asatsuyu, the Saemidori bush finally earned a place in the registry in 1990. It's delicate yet complex flavors compares favorably to Gyokuro. We also recommend the Saemidori Sencha.
