Gyokuro - Uji
One of our favorite Japanese teas, gyokuro can do no wrong in our book. The scent of the the heated tea leaves promises a rich, mouthwatering experience while maintaining a delicate allure. The shade grown sweetness spreads to every corner of the mouth. We love the exceptionally smooth, silky texture and the beautiful pale green color. A soft trace of umami, gives way to a lemony finish. We even detect a touch of chestnuts, a nuttiness that pairs well with a lightly sweetened piece of mochi.

Gyokuro can be translated as Jade Dew, a beautiful description of the tea's delicate green liquor.
The city of Uji in the Kyoto Prefecture of Japan is the oldest gyokuro producing region.
Gyokuro can be placed in three grades; Pine, Bamboo and Plum with Pine being the highest quality.
Gyokuro comes from the Yabukita cultivar
Many tea aficionados like to "age" their gyokuro by storing the tea for six months to a year before drinking.
